Welcome to Your Members’ Portal
Your Members’ Portal, powered by Beacon, is the secure membership management system at the heart of Melton Mowbray u3a. It brings your membership information, groups and useful online services together in one convenient place.
Once registered, you can manage many aspects of your membership yourself. Update your contact details, change your telephone number or email address, request a replacement membership card, renew your membership and explore group activities and calendars to help you see what’s happening and plan ahead.
More Than Just Your Membership Record
Beacon also helps our volunteers and Group Leaders keep everything running smoothly. It enables us to:
- Maintain membership records and emergency contact information securely.
- Manage group membership and waiting lists.
- Allow members to join participating groups online.
- Give Group Leaders appropriate access to the information they need to manage their groups.
- Provide useful calendars showing meetings, activities and events.
- Communicate with members using secure email and mail-merge facilities while protecting individual email addresses.
- Help our Membership Team manage new members, renewals and changes to membership records.

Keeping your personal information safe and secure is a priority. Beacon is designed to protect member data, with individual u3as kept separate and information protected through secure systems and encryption.
Moving more of our membership services online helps us keep information accurate, reduces unnecessary paperwork and gives you greater control over your own membership record.

Tips for Success
As we move to our online Beacon Membership Management System, each member will receive an email inviting them to register for the Members’ Portal.
Your invitation will contain the information you need to complete the registration process. When you first register, Beacon will ask you to confirm your identity using five pieces of information:
- Membership Number
- Forename
- Surname
- Postcode
- Email Address
Make sure your details match
It is important that these five pieces of information match the details held on your membership record. Even a small difference may prevent Beacon from recognising you.
Type your information manually rather than copying and pasting or using your device’s auto-fill feature. Check carefully for any extra spaces before or after your entries, particularly when using a phone or tablet.
Register first, sign in later
If this is your first visit, don’t try to sign in using your email address straight away.
Instead, look for the blue “Register for a membership account” link on the Beacon screen. Select this first and follow the instructions to confirm your identity.
Once Beacon has successfully identified you, you’ll be asked to create a password and complete the email verification process.
After registration is complete, future visits are much easier. Simply sign in using your email address and password.
Your Members’ Portal
Your Members’ Portal is your personal doorway into Melton Mowbray u3a. It’s where you can view and update your membership profile, keep your contact details up to date, and find useful information about groups, activities and upcoming events.
For Group Leaders, the portal provides additional tools to help manage groups, communicate with members, share updates and notices, and keep meeting and event dates organised on the calendar.
It’s worth signing in regularly. Whether you’re checking for what’s coming up, updating your details or managing a group, the Members’ Portal keeps everything conveniently together in one place.
