Melton Mowbray u3a is run by members, for members, and volunteering is at the heart of everything we do.

Every group, activity, event and behind-the-scenes task is made possible by members who are willing to contribute a little of their time, knowledge or enthusiasm. Some take on regular roles, while others lend a hand occasionally. Every contribution matters.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a wonderful way to become more involved in your u3a. It can introduce you to new people, give you an opportunity to use skills you already have or discover some you never knew you had.

It might mean helping at a monthly meeting, supporting an event, assisting a Group Leader, sharing your knowledge, joining a team or taking on one of our volunteer or committee roles.

Along the way, there’s the satisfaction of knowing that your contribution is helping Melton Mowbray u3a continue to grow and provide opportunities for all our members.

Could You Lend a Hand?

You don’t need to make a huge commitment. Sometimes an hour, a particular skill or simply an extra pair of hands is exactly what’s needed.

Take a look at the Roles & Vacancies on this page to see where we currently need some help. Our Group Leaders may also welcome members who would like to become more involved in running or supporting their groups, so please feel free to speak to them directly.

Could You Be Part of Our Committee Team?

Our u3a thrives because members are willing to share their time, ideas and experience. Joining the committee is a rewarding way to become more involved, meet new people and help shape the future of Melton Mowbray u3a.

You don’t need previous committee experience. Perhaps you’ve been involved with a charity, club, community group or business and have skills you could bring to the team. Or perhaps you simply have enthusiasm, fresh ideas and a willingness to learn. Either way, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

There’s More Than One Way to Get Involved

Committee roles don’t necessarily have to be taken on alone. Some roles can be shared between two members, making it easier to divide responsibilities and work together.

Already know someone you’d enjoy sharing a role with? You’re welcome to volunteer together. If not, we may be able to introduce you to another member with similar interests or skills. It could even be the beginning of a new friendship.
