Voyages en Fauteuil - Armchair Travel - actual trips and flights of fancy This U3A group started meeting monthly in 2025. We have a group of 9 regular attendees, all of whom are confident French speakers. We meet in a cafe in the centre of Melton on the first Monday of each month (excepting Bank holidays where dates may vary). All members of the group are fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn French either by living in or visiting a french speaking country. Our meetings are an opportunity to converse in a light hearted fashion about things that interest us. Not necessarily about France or French culture although we would probably all confess to being francophiles! Many of us enjoy travelling and we talk quite a bit about where we’ve been and where we would like to visit. But we also quite naturally talk about our hobbies, our families and our friends. We generally talk a little about our own news - quoi de neuf? to begin our discussions and we also have a broad topic each meeting where one two of the group will take the lead. The group is led by Penny Tomie who started learning French at school in Newark, Nottinghamshire in 1968 - work in progress!
