The Munitions Factory of East Goscote

A talk by Rod Axon (LAHS)
Friday 13 November 2026  •  2:00 p.m.  •  Mary’s Place

About the talk
The New Concept Village of East Goscote was built by Jelson Ltd on the derelict site of Royal Ordnance Factories (ROF) Filling Factory No. 10, Queniborough.

Opened in September 1942, the site was transformed from farmland and a rose garden into a munitions factory employing 6,000 people in just 17 months. It was capable of producing nine classes of munitions, including standard bombs for direct “export” to Germany. Production ceased in 1945.
