We were previously Patchwork 2, a group of 12 who worked on a variety of projects, large and small, sharing ideas and helping beginners. Some had been members since the group started 10 years ago and felt it was time to explore other sewing projects, so the group became Patchwork and Sewing.
Members are free to do any sewing of their choice, such as dressmaking, household sewing e.g cushions or continue with patchwork. Whenever possible, we try to help each other by sharing our knowledge and previous experience.

2026 Annual Report
The group, which currently has thirteen members meets monthly at Burton Lazars Village Hall. We usually work on individual projects of our own choice. Some members tried to make sun hats, probably one of the most useful items we have made as it was such a hot, sunny summer! However, last year we did work together, along with the Tuesday Patchwork group to make various items for the U3A Christmas tree and then decorated the tree in the church.
At the beginning of 2026 we decided that we would not meet at Burton Lazars in July and August as attendance was often low in those months. Instead, any members who were not on holiday or looking after grand children arranged to meet in alternative venues. In July four members visited Quorn Country Crafts in East Leake and in August most of the group met for coffee at Wymondham Windmill. Some members also attended classes elsewhere during the summer, including Quorn Country Crafts and Let’s Sew It, in Melton Mowbray.

We resumed our usual meetings in September when members brought along items they had recently finished. A picture of the display is above. It was also interesting to see the new ideas that members were able to bring from the alternative classes they attended.
